QR Code PNG Generator

PNG is the safest all-purpose QR format: lossless, universally supported, and the only raster option here that keeps a transparent background.

How to export a PNG

  1. 1Enter your content and style the code.
  2. 2Turn on the transparent background switch if the code sits on a colored surface.
  3. 3Pick 512, 1024 or 2048 px — larger for print, smaller for web.
  4. 4Choose PNG from the download menu.

When PNG is the right pick

  • Slide decks, documents and email newsletters
  • Website graphics and social posts
  • Overlaying a code on a photo or colored panel
  • Anything pasted into an app that dislikes SVG

Choosing a resolution

For print, aim for roughly 300 dpi at the final size: a 3 cm code needs about 350 px, a 10 cm code about 1200 px. When in doubt, export 2048 px — downscaling is lossless in effect, upscaling is not.

Other formats available

The same code can be exported as SVG for vectors, JPEG when a PNG is rejected, or PDF for print.

Rendered locally

Your QR code is rendered in your browser with JavaScript — the text, URL, password or contact details you type are never sent to our servers. We only record anonymous usage counts (the QR type and how many characters it contained) so we can keep the tool healthy. Content is only stored if you sign in and explicitly save a code to your history.
