How to export a PDF

  1. 1Enter your content and style the code.
  2. 2Set the resolution — 2048 px gives the most headroom for large prints.
  3. 3Choose PDF in the download menu.
  4. 4Place the page in your layout, or send it to the printer as is.

Where the PDF export helps

  • Restaurant menus and table talkers
  • Flyers, leaflets and direct mail
  • Window decals and exhibition graphics
  • Documents that need the code embedded at exact dimensions

Sizing for print

As a rule of thumb a code should be at least a tenth of the distance it will be scanned from — a code read from one metre away should be about 10 cm wide. Keep the white quiet zone around it and avoid placing it in a fold or near a trim edge.

Other formats

Need to hand a designer editable artwork instead? Export SVG. For screens, PNG is the simpler choice.

Built on your device

Your QR code is rendered in your browser with JavaScript — the text, URL, password or contact details you type are never sent to our servers. We only record anonymous usage counts (the QR type and how many characters it contained) so we can keep the tool healthy. Content is only stored if you sign in and explicitly save a code to your history. The PDF is assembled in the browser too.
